Here the Fool learns the skills he needs to be able to tackle life, and succeed in his journey. It's an intense lesson, as not only must he master the four elements, Earth, Fire, Water and Air, and understand how they work, The Magician teaches him how to garner the power of heaven and earth in order to transform weaknesses into strengths and shape life.

I always get an immense sense of reassurance whenever I encounter the Magician; his message is one of transformation and ability. He tells us that whatever we might encounter, we have the tools at our disposal to be able to rise above it and tackle anything. By acknowledging our own skills and talents, and employing them for the best outcome, we are all capable of achievement and success.

The Magician is a conduit, a power source between what is above and what is below – the connection between our higher consciousness and the practical earth bound consciousness. He reminds us that in order to be whole we must merge all aspects of ourselves, and all aspects of our talents by applying our skills to employ the ideas and imagination of Fire/Wands, the emotional connection given by Water/Cups, the intelligent thought process of Air/Swords and the practical, doing power of Earth/Pentacles. Balancing all four of these aspects in ourselves is the key to a smooth journey, and being aware that we need to tap into our higher selves in order to balance all four aspects of our talents is something we all need reminding of from time to time.

When the Magician enters our lives, we need to ask ourselves what talents and skills we have that we have been ignoring, how can we take a mental stock of our inventory and reassemble our abilities. What is in our lives that requires all these skills? And perhaps it is time to reconnect with our higher inner selves and listen to our innate knowledge that we so frequently turn off.
