Coming across a woman, fearlessly opening a lion’s mouth and taming this wild creature, The Fool realises the importance of being strong in the face of adversity and the importance of feeling proud about his accomplishments so far. Facing the inner shadow, which can manifest as guilt, shame, fear, anxiety, worry etc, takes an immense amount of strength. Being able to look within and acknowledge that certain behaviours or attitudes are holding you back, or causing unhappiness to you and others is something that we all have to do at some point in our lives.

This is our inner demon, the dark aspect of our personality that on most days we ignore, until it rears its ugly head and causes us or others concern. The lion in the imagery of Strength represents those hidden desires, fears, shame, guilt - whatever it is that eats us up inside and being able to tame that lion shows that by courageously expressing and controlling these impulses helps to enhance your self-love and as such become a stronger and more in tune individual.

When Strength appears in a reading it reminds you to face your fears, embrace your desires and live life with love. Be proud of yourself and take on the inner lion within. Strength is associated with the astrological sign of Leo. A fixed fire sign, Leo rules the heart and the leonine personality says I love, forgive, risk, control, play, perform, master and empathise. If you feel you need to associate with these qualities then you should invite Strength in through meditation, or if you notice Strength reappearing in readings then look at what aspects of yourself you need to accept, with love and forgive with empathy and compassion.

Discovering how to use your own strength and power wisely, for the betterment of your inner self and to improve the experiences of others is a truly loving and generous act, and having the courage to acknowledge that we are not perfect is one of the things that helps us become wise.
