Copper Viking Knit Bracelet with Rubies

£18.00

A hand-crafted bracelet made from copper wire using a Viking knit technique. The ruby gemstone beads are cleverly knitted into the bracelet so they don't move around. The copper is bright, but will patinate with age. The bracelet is finished with brass wound wire end caps and a copper lobster clasp.

Viking knitting is an ancient craft used for fashioning jewellery from finely-drawn metal wires.

Ruby is a powerful stone, and is credited with the quality of manifesting potential and, given as a gift, is a symbol of enduring friendship and love.

The bracelet is 180mm (18cm or 7 and 1/2 inches) long.

Examples of this technique have been found in archaeological sites in Scandinavia and also in the British Isles. Many of these date back to at least the 9th and 10th centuries, the time of the Viking settlements in Britain.
